Aircraft Installation installed but not shown
« on: October 17, 2016, 11:43:32 AM »
I'm a noobie to this, I installed a pack of aircraft for use in Steam FSX, they seem to have been installed ie the plane folders appear in the  SimOjects/Airplanes folder but they don't appear in FSX selection window in Free Flight.

The Pack is for FSX when the installer runs there is no option to choose FSX but I assumed that the format was the same.

Below from the package

***********************************************************************************************
NOK AIR WINTER 2015

Please follow the installation setup in the installer to ensure you have totally automated setup of this airline.

This package is for FS2004 and FSX.

Credits :

Models        : FAIB B738, B738, OSP ATR72-500, TFS DH8D
Modelmakers   : FAIB, OSP, TFS
Repaint       : Juergen Baumbusch
Flightplans   : Stephen Croft & Alpha-India Group
Callsign      : NOK AIR
Parking code  : NOK
Comments      : This is a FSX package only! For FS9 there is another download available.

***********************************************************************************************

Is this installation ONLY for traffic? Cant be!  I watched a vdo using non-Steam version and FSX id a database update at start....I didnt see this! , but they ran Installer using Admin privileges, I didnt think this relevant since the installer seemed to work.

OK I reran the install with Admin rights.... now have an option to choose FSX version, closed the installer.

Restarted FSX, database rebuilding like I saw in vdo, but after database update, error message duplicate entries ..apparently the first install without admin rights put folders there (I didnt delete them) so now duplicate entries)  so I deleted the folders and tried to reinstall again....no rebuild this time......now it says something missing looks like a corrupt database, so now what!

Any help appreciated!

Thanx

The is AI traffic and the aircraft are not suited for flying.
So you can't select them in the aircraft selection.

Consider WOAI aircraft as moving scenery and not complete aircraft models  ;)

Duhhh OK,

I really just jumped into this yesterday, and made some bad assumptions.

So does FSX just randomly select some random models from the SimObjects/Airplanes folder to display as traffic!

OK got it!

All making sense now! ...... :-[

Seems I broke the record for dumb question. I got this site while trying to install model to fly, I did read the faq but  knew so little I didnt grasp what an AI aircraft / traffic was!  :P
