Aircraft not Parking in suitable size gates
« on: January 11, 2017, 11:56:15 PM »
I'm currently building a new Chicago O'Hare, and I've sized all the gates by measuring via Google Earth Prof.

I was puzzled to see WoA Aircraft such as the Lufthansa 747-400 trying to squeeze into a Medium Gate.  I used Traffic Explorer to try and get an idea of the problem, and discovered that FSX thought the a/c would fit in a 20 metre parking spot.  This aircraft has a wing span of 64 metres, so I checked the Aircraft.cfg files and discovered they are wrong.  They have the wing span set to 126.46 feet instead of 211.xx.  I've also checked another problem a/c the A340 and that looks suspect as well.  Fortunately I have the old PMDG 747-400, so I've replaced the suspect parts of the aircraft.cfg by copying bits of that.

I'm now thinking of writing a utility to cross check all the wingspan figures in the world\scenery folder to see if I can find all the errors.  I am now wondering how much of the Aircraft.cfg is needed by the AI engine to work?  Could the correct wing span be about it?
